A research team on the Hydrological and Ecological Study of the Bago River led by La Consolacion College Bacolod
will present their findings 9:30 a.m. to noon today at the LCC Bacolod Auditorium, a press release from the school said.
The research is funded by the Commission on Higher Education Zonal Research Center based at
Siliman University in Dumaguete City.
The research provides an information database of the Bago River System, in particular, the geo-physico-chemical and biological
characteristics of the riverbank. Bago River starts from the northeast slope of Mount Kanla-on and drains in the Guimaras Strait.
It passes through the municipalities of Don Salvador Benedicto, Murcia and Pulupandan as well as the cities of San Carlos and Bago.
The data will support an integrated conservation program of the river and sustainable development in the area, the press release said.
Dr. Angel Alcala – CHED ZRC director, Dr. Orencio La Chica – assistant director, and Dr. Virginia Ressureccion – CHED regional director
will be at the paper presentation, with the officials of the local government units and concerned agencies.
Among the members of the research team are the Central Philippine Adventist College, Colegio San Agustin Bacolod,
University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, University of St. La Salle and VMA Global College, the press release added.*
