Guidance Service Center Integrated School

“Guidance is not only for those who dream and for those who scream but also for those who fit in between.”
The Guidance Services Center (GSC-IS) is the heart of the Integrated School. The Office is concerned with the students’ welfare, helping each one develop himself/herself as a person.

Services:

Counseling

This is the heart of the Guidance Program. Our very competent counselors provide a counseling relationship with the students in order for him/her to achieve a better understanding of himself/herself and his/her surroundings. Counseling may be done individually or in groups. If a student has problems or concerns, he/she may just go directly to the GSC-IS for counseling.

Research and Evaluation

Researches are also conducted in the GSC-IS. These researches are being used for innovations in the programs and in designing interventions. The Office also takes charge of the evaluation of the effectiveness of school clubs and their moderators.

Programs:

Peer Counseling

Peer Counselors are students trained to help others by helping themselves at the same time. The Peer Counseling Program provides a venue wherein the youth can fully interact and establish healthy relationships among themselves. This is in line with its credo, “a person is of more value than the whole world.” They are the extension arm of the Guidance Office.

Homeroom Guidance

This program is designed to provide an atmosphere of belongingness for the students. The Homeroom Guidance Program provides unstructured activities which allow students to express their feelings share their insights and establish team and community spirit.

Leadership Training

Leaders are not born. They are made. And the Guidance Office, together with the Office of the Coordinators of Student Affairs (Level I and II), helps create leaders by conducting annual leadership training seminars.

Teachers’ In-Service Training

The Office equips teachers with the adequate skills in conducting and managing homeroom guidance classes and in facilitating school clubs. In-service training seminars are conducted annually both for old and new teachers.

Career Program

The Guidance Office aids students in choosing their careers by providing them with information regarding college applications; by conducting placement, interest, and scholastic aptitude tests; through career counseling; and through career exposures.

Orientation Program

Every year, the Office conducts orientation activities for the new students of the Integrated School (from Nursery up to Grade 10). Parents of these new students are also being oriented of the school’s policies and guidelines, administration, faculty and personnel, and other concerns.
