LCC-B hosts training program

La ConsolacionCollege in BacolodCity will host today the Shell-Jollibee Program, aimed at providing out-of-school youth with knowledge and skills in the areas of fast-food servicing and hospitality industry through technical-vocational skills training. The program is a partnership between Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. and Jollibee Foods Corporation, a press release from LCC-B said.

The program is a dual training scholarship where the scholars will undergo a food and beverage course with commercial cooking at La Consolacion College Bacolod School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, while undertaking on-the-job training at Jollibee stores in Bacolod City

The latter allows the scholars to apply theories and skills in the real workplace.

The school, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and the German Technical Cooperation, through the Small and Medium Enterprise Development for Sustainable Employment Program, developed the 300-hour training curriculum, the press release said.

Covered are courses in food and beverage service, barista and bartending, and culinary or commercial cooking, accredited by the Technical Education Skills Development Authority.

The program, which will be delivered by the faculty of LCC-B, is tailored to the needs of PSFI and JFC scholars. Topics and activities were carefully designed and have undergone validation by food service establishment owners, managers and professionals to ensure that learners acquire a strong foundation in hospitality industry and professionalism upon completion of the course, the press release said.

Those interested in the launching may visit LCC-B HRM and Tourism Center, Quezon Avenue, Bacolod City, the press release added.*
